Ep. 27: Sailing Vessel Prism Cruises the Pacific Coast of Mexico and Central America Interviewed by Linus Wilson

Get the Slow Boat Sailing Podcast on Stitcher and iTunes!

In this episode we talk to the John and Shannon from Sailing Vessel Prism. Prism is a 33-foot Hans Christian sailboat. They had sailed from Berkeley, California to Costa Rica when I caught up with them in June 2016. (The Slow Boat was in Panama and the internet was not the best for this interview.)  Support their great videos on Patreon. Shannon and John cruise inexpensively and like to take their time.

John was a professional videographer for TV, and he gives some tips on making great video on our bonus episode for our Patreon supporters.

I also talk about HaveWindWillTravel.com‘s  video “#75: How to Get Your Wife to Go Cruising”. Annie Dike from episode 23 says that her fans ask here that question all the time.

S1E6: Offshore to Providencia, Colombia, Sailing Across the Caribbean to the Pirate Paradise Island

The Slow Boat sails from Cayo Largo, Cuba across the Caribbean Sea to the remote island of Providencia, Colombia. Electrical sparks on the lifelines endangers the boat on the crossing. We face the legend of the pirate and privateer Captain Morgan as we enter the harbor. In this video cruising guide, we show why Providencia is a cruiser’s paradise with all the essentials within close walking distance of the dinghy landing. Free WIFI, several grocery stores, two ATMs, and many other essentials are a few steps from the dock. We show how to check in, get water, and get fuel. Stevie visits the airport. Linus fixes the generator and puts up a new board used to secure the fuel cans.

Three New Episodes Planned for Slow Boat Sailing’s Season 1. 13 total planned for season 1.

The first of five videos are up, including all the Cuba videos. In the rest of the season the Slow Boat Crew heads to Providencia, Colombia, Panama, and Ecuador. Subscribe to get the remaining videos when they are released. I have revised the episode plan to reflect all the video I have shot. This includes several more episodes. The entire playlist of the season is here, which will be updated as we release new episodes.

The emphasis is a vlog that also is a video cruising and travel guide. It is a hope that besides telling our story these episodes will help other sailors and travelers in their future adventures to the places we visited. In addition to going to more exotic destinations than many other sailing channels, Slow Boat Sailing makes highly edited and visually interesting videos. I believe the quality of each video and the love put into them will allow the channel to grow faster than many other  sailing channels.

Check out the trailer preview. In 2017, we are sailing to Galapagos and French Polynesia.

Subscribe and like videos you have enjoyed and watched. Your interaction with the videos and free subscription on YouTube tells us if it is worth while to keep filming in 2017 and beyond. Join us for our trip sailing around the world. If there is not enough interest this season, we will sail, snorkel, and hike more next summer and film less in future seasons.

Happy sailing and viewing.

SLOW BOAT TO CUBA the movie

You can see the YouTube version of Slow Boat to Cuba, my next book in progress, which is planned to be released before December 2016, today. The book will cover the trip from New Orleans to Cayo Largo Cuba. These five short videos of the different legs of the trip. A lot of stories don’t make it into the videos. We always dropped the cameras right before the squalls hit. At least one camera also made it into Davy Jones’ locker, but all the logbooks survived of the first leg of the Slow Boat‘s attempted round the world trip. Total run time for the YouTube version of Slow Boat to Cuba is 40 minutes in 5  different videos going from the Gulf Coast to Cuba’s remote south coast. Click below to start the playlist. Don’t forget to subscribe to get many more videos of the Slow Boat‘s crew members’ adventures sailing south.

Our last sailing vlog episode in Cuba is on YouTube!

See us sail to Cuba’s paradise resort by the Caribbean Sea.

We’re also giving a limited edition, signed copy of Slow Boat to Bahamas after we hit 250 YouTube subscribers. Send your US address here to enter the drawing for free.

Ep. 4: (new) Sailing the Galapagos and Marquesas with Pacific Crossing Notes Author Nadine Slavinski Interviewed by Linus Wilson

Get the Slow Boat Sailing Podcast on Stitcher and iTunes!

This “new” episode 4 replaces the old episode 4. The old episode 4 had poor sound quality due to banging halyards in a 30-knot near-gale. Nadine Slavinski crossed the South Pacific in 2012 and 2013 and wrote about it in her book Pacific Crossing Notes. We talk in depth about the Slow Boat’s planned cruising grounds for 2017 of the Galapagos and the Marquesas. Nadine also wrote Lesson Plans Ahoy! and Cruising the Caribbean with Kids. We also talk about her cool downwind sailing setup on their 35′ sailboat.

I also talk about HaveWindWillTravel.com‘s new video “How to Get Your Wife to Go Cruising”. She says her fans ask here that question all the time.
