Sailboat Breaks Keel & Sinks, Crew Rescued by USCG, Sailing near Charleston #sailing #sailboat

On March 10, 2019, and March 12, 2019, the USCG Air Station Savanna rescued two sailboat crews in distress in South Carolina. One boat the SV Drippe, lost its steering and was headed to the rocks. A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter hoisted the man on board to safety near Georgetown, SC after his sailboat was in too shallow water for the US Coast Guard medium response boat to reach him. On March 12, 2019, three people aboard called a mayday after their boat hit hard aground and lost its keel near Seabrook Island, South Carolina, USA near Charleston. All three climbed into the 30-foot sailing yacht’s dinghy as they awaited helicopter rescue. All three were hoisted to safety. No injuries were reported.

The March 12, 2019, incident is similar to the story of Nikki Walsh and Tanner Broadwell who lost their sailboat when its keel bolts failed when it grounded on a sand bar.

Too DAM close! Pontoon Boat SAVED from Lake Adger Dam in NC

A pontoon boat broke its mooring lines in wild weather on Sunday April 14, 2019, in Lake Adger, NC. It drifted to the edge of the dam. North Carolina Wildlife officers hooked a winch to the boat on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, while their boat was tied to a tree. They were able to winch the pontoon boat to safety. Polk County Emergency Management asked Columbus Fire & Rescue to assist on April 15, 2019, and April 16, 2019, by taking drone footage of the pontoon boat teetering on the edge of the Lake Adger Dam which is also known as the Turner Shoals Dam.

The dam was built in 1925 at the confluence of the Turner Shoals and Green River in 1925 by John Adger’s Blue Ridge Power. Today Northbrook Hydroelectric operates the dam which is leased from Polk County, NC. Lake Adger covers 438 acres and has 14 miles of shore line. It is a popular fishing spot in the mountains of western North Carolina.

The Polk County Fire Marshall also assisted with the retrieval of the vessel. Columbus Fire & Rescue gave media outlets permission to use their drone footage posted to their Facebook page.

Dany MUST Execute Jamie in Game of Thrones S8E2! GOT Preview Reaction

Jaime Lannister came to Winterfell in season 8 episode 1 to warn of Cersei’s treachery, but Daenerys Targaryen must execute the Kingslayer in Season 8 episode 2 for murdering her father the Mad King and crippling Brandon Stark in S1E1. Ser Jaime’s murder of the king that he was sworn to protect, King Aerys II Targaryen, led to King Robert Baratheon killing Dany’s mother Rhaella and sending her into hiding with brother Viserys in Essos. That betrayal by the King’s Guardman led to the usurper Robert Baratheon taking the Iron Throne and ruling the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

Because Catelyn Stark freed Jaime at the defiance of Robb Stark and the House Karstark of Karhold, the Young Wolf lost his most powerful banner men in an attempt to enforce discipline. This led Robb to depend on the Boltons and the Freys and the Red Wedding at the twins which crushed the House Stark.

Can Dany the Mother of Dragons afford such mercy to the Kinslayer now? Will she enact the fire and blood justice that decimated House Tarley when Randyll Tarly and Dickon Tarly refused to bend the knee after the loot train battle?

Will the Knight King arrive at Winterfell before Jamie Lannister can get his justice? Can the Starks afford to let the Kingslayer get away again?

YouTube Executives Love Clickbait! The algorithm does not maximize watch time or audience retention.

The statement below indicates that YouTube is not optimizing for watch time and is favoring higher click-through rate (CTR) content. In other words, the YouTube video recommendations just cares about the clicks and is not maximizing watch time. The implications are clear. Enticing thumbnails and titles are the keys to getting YouTube to promote your videos. High quality videos following the thumbnail are not always necessary.

Todd of the YouTube “algorithm” search and discovery team said the following on the Creator Insider channel video:[1]

For example, with watch time, we have come across some changes in the past that we have considered. Like we had this one change recently that significantly increased watch time across YouTube. Actually, if we had rolled out this change, then people would have watched millions of more hours every day on YouTube. So, you might think, “Well, obviously, that is one of the good ones. Let’s roll that one out!”

For the dozens of metrics that we looked at for each change, we found that there were some interesting things that were happening that were not the same across all viewers. What was happening is, one that we were recommending longer videos on average. So, you might see more videos that are an hour long or more, but our hit rate, in terms of like how often a viewer would find a video that they would want to watch was lower. So, you would be less likely to find a video, but when you did find one that you liked, you would watch for longer. So overall watch time was up.

But what was ultimately happening when we dug in, was we were increasing engagement a small heavy segment of the audience and actually reducing engagement from a casual user segment. Because we don’t just look at the total volume of engagement, we also break it out and see how it is affecting different groups of viewers and we care about growing the appeal of YouTube to more and more users over time, we felt this was not representative of the type of change we wanted to make because it was making the experience worse for a significant segment of viewers that we cared about. And so rather than make them pay the price for another segment, we said let’s go back and see if we can find another way to get the improvements here without hurting it for another segment.

Viking Cruise Ship CRASH! Idun Longship Rams Chemical Marketer Tanker in River near Antwerp

The 443-foot Viking River Cruises Longship, Viking Idun, collided with the 135-meter Chemical Marketer at 12:10 AM on April 1, 2019, near Antwerp. 9news.com reported that there were 171 passengers and 44 crew members on board the Viking River Cruise. The Zeeland police are investigating. Viking Idun docked in the Port of Terneuzan, Neatherlands. The oil and chemical tanker MV Chemical Marketer sailed from Turkey bound for Ghent prior to the incident. The Viking Idun cruise ship left Antwerp bound for Ghent. Idun was on a 10-day Tulips & Windmills cruise that starts at $3,400 per passengers. The passengers completed the itinerary by charter bus according to one passenger Tammy Miller of Castle Rock Colorado on Facebook. Both ships had damage above the water line to their bows. They were not taking on water or leaking chemicals or fuel. Viking Idun may return to service on April 4, 2019.

This is just over a week after over 1,000 people aboard the Viking Sky saw their lives hand in the balance during a storm off Norway when the cruise ship’s engines lost power. This Over half of its 915 passengers were air lifted by CHC Helicopters and the Southern Norway rescue services (Hovedrningssentralen) on March 23 ,to March 24. MV Viking Sky arrived in Molde, Norway at 16:30, on Sunday, March 24, 2019.

This second incident in 8 days calls into question the judgement of the bridge leadership of both the Viking Sky and the Viking Idun cruise ships. AIS and lookouts should have helped the crew avoid the collusion in the Neatherlands.

My $ EXPOSED from 1 million views + Sailing Channels La Vagabonde & SV Delos’ Adsense $ Estimates

Find out how much money my sailing channel made from one million views on YouTube. I estimate how much Google AdSense revenues the nearly 100 million views of Sailing SV Delos and Sailing La Vagabonde made their creators. I argue that sailing channels make more than most other YouTubers because their viewers are demographically older and more affluent. The Slow Boat Sailing YouTube channel took over 100 videos to hit 1 million views and it took over three years to reach the seven figure milestone in February 2019. While I do not expose CPM, cost per thousand, view data, you get the exact dollar lifetime earnings from YouTube from my channel for its first three years (minus a week or two) as it climbed to its first 1 million views on YouTube.
